“I just love how it slows me down while shooting. How it keeps me focused. How it reminds me that photographs are valuable and real. I love film because it’s like a gift everytime you get a roll of film back and it has this unique characteristics to it which in my eyes is hard to beat or copy. I used a Contax for nearly a year… but then it suddenly stopped working, so now I’m shooting with a Canon A1”

Chantal Convertini is a 24 y/o art student, living and studying in Switzerland. Her film-journey started exactly one year before. Coming from shooting digital, she had always wanted to try shooting film, because she really wanted to know how film-cameras work. She borrowed a film-camera from a friend who got it second-hand. An old beautiful Cosina Hi-Lite. Light measuring did not work, the mirror was broken and the good people at the camera store said it was not ok to use it. She didn’t listen, but instead got a roll of Expired Fuji 200 color film and brought it on a trip to Lisbon.

The first roll shot in Lisbon broke in the middle of the process and she only got 19 pictures back.
That aside, she loved every shot that did come out, better than all the digital photos she had taken all together.
Went straight back to the camera store and bought her own film-camera.
